چکیده
Abstract Metabolic profiles of diffuse astrocytoma and recurrent tumor tissues were compared in a patient with who showed recurrence progressed to glioblastoma (GBM). The presented infiltrating was operated April 2018. pathology report that the diffusely Ki-67 5% (WHO Grade II). In addition, molecular testing results indicated IDH1wt TERTp mutation an indeterminate MGMT promoter status. Given brain involvement status, aggressive behavior suggested for this tumor. After ~3.5 years (January 2022), MRI examination underwent craniotomy resection high-grade glial neoplasm composed ovoid cells nuclear pleomorphism (GBM, WHO IV). We collected specimens from both surgeries metabolic using 1H NMR spectroscopy. extracted methanol-chloroform (2:1 ratio) extraction-method. methanol-layer decreased levels N-acetylaspartate (NAA) myo-inositol, elevated phosphocholine (PC) glycine, astrocytoma. Decreased NAA PC glycine are features gliomas, suggesting progression low-grade GBM. chloroform-layers tumors presence cholesterol; however, cholesteryl ester (CE) detected only ratio CE cholesterol 0.44, 44% pool esterified Cholesterol esterification is dysregulated GBM targeting pathway AcylCoA:cholesterol acyltransferase (ACAT) inhibitors would be promising treatment astrocytomas which transform

A Case Report of Small Cell Lung Carcinoma in a Patient with Progressive Diffuse Sclerosis
Connective tissue diseases, including scleroderma, may be associated with an increased risk of lung cancer. The most common type of lung cancer associated with systemic sclerosis is adenocarcinoma or bronchoalveolar carcinoma, and small cell carcinoma is rare. This reports presents a 54-year-old non-smoker woman with a history of scleroderma who was examined due to aggravation of shortness of ...
متن کاملDiffuse Hepatic Calcifications in a Transfusion-Dependent Patient with Beta-Thalassemia: A Case Report
Hepatic calcification is usually associated with infectious, vascular, or neoplastic processes in the liver. We report the first case of beta-thalassemia major with isolated diffuse hepatic calcification in a 23 year old woman, who had been transfusion-dependent since the age of 6 months. She was referred to our center with a chief complaint of abdominal pain. Computed tomography scan of the ab...
متن کاملCholesterol esterification in rabbit plasma.
1. When [4-(14)C]cholesterol, attached to beta-globulin or dispersed with Tween 20, was incubated with fresh rabbit (New Zealand albino females) plasma, 30-47% esterification was observed. The optimum pH was 6.8. This esterification was accomplished by the transfer of fatty acids from the C-2 position of lecithin (phosphatidylcholine) to cholesterol. 2. There was no evidence that triglycerides ...
متن کاملPrimary Hepatic Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma in a Patient with Scleroderma
Primary Hepatic Lymphoma (PHL) is rare and possibly associated with viral hepatitis and autoimmune diseases. Scleroderma could exceptionally be complicated by lymphoma. We describe PHL occurring in a 52-year-old female suffering scleroderma for eight years, with no history of cytotoxic or high-dose glucocorticoid therapy. CT scan, performed to work-up abdominal discomfort, constipation, and ...
متن کاملDiffuse pontine astrocytoma with lipocytic differentiation.
A 7-year-old boy was treated with radiation and chemotherapy for a diffuse pontine glioma. At autopsy, 8 months after diagnosis, the tumor was a diffuse grade II fibrillary astrocytoma with prominent lipocytic differentiation. Literature review suggests that lipocytic differentiation in low-grade astrocytomas occurs in a variety of patient ages, anatomic sites, grades, and astrocytic subtypes. ...
